ALMER

St.Mary

The hamlet of Almer lies to the north of the busy A31, from where the church can be glimpsed beyond an attractive pond.  This is a bit of a mixture, but has its origins in the 11c. There is a tower, an early 18c chancel and some classic windows of the period almost certainly by the Bastard brothers of Blandford Forum fame.  Inside, the chancel is a Victorian rebuild and there are some good examples of family pews.  The font is 12c.
