The Fitzharris Monument

To the right of the Jesse Screen is a most touching monument by Flaxman to Harriet, Viscountess Fitzharris, who died in 1815, aged just 32 years.  Also depicted are her three sons.  Her husband outlived her by a further 26 years and remained absolutely inconsolable, refusing to have anything moved in her boudoir or garden at Hurn Court, the family home of the Malmesburys from 1800 to 1950.
