The choir is separated from the crossing by a choir screen, thought to have been erected in the 17c re-using stones from the remains of the monastery. The stalls around the outer walls were originally from late 15c although they have been much restored. On either side of the entrance arch through the screen are two canopied stalls with crude 15c paintings behind. On the right side, King Athelstan, the founder of the church, is shown handing a model of a minster to a kneeling abbot with crozier in hand. On the left side, Queen Egwynna, Athelstan's mother, is shown holding a pair of gloves and a hawk with a dead bird in its mouth. Both pictures were restored in the 19c.
