The church at Up Cerne must occupy one of the loveliest sites in the county. Nearby is a gracious mellow manor house, built some time before 1624 and all arranged in a stunning parkland setting complete with a generous lake.
The building, constructed of flint and rubble, is essentially Victorian, no doubt rebuilt around the time that the manor house was altered and restored. There is a good Jacobean pulpit and the square Purbeck font is 12c. The barrel roof with corbels sculpted into heads gives a very pleasing effect.
